China Glaze House Of Colour, Spring 2016

Good afternoon all and happy Saturday!  I want to say my kid's "ski week" was full of fun and adventure, and while we did make a trip to Disneyland it wasn't the best trip we've ever been on.  All 3 of my littles ended up being super grumpy and fighty and sick.  I'm talking fevers and chills and vomit here people.  Not what I was expecting on this vacation.  Fortunately they're all making a turn for the better now and I'm certain they'll be fine when it's time to go back to school on Monday.  But I'll tell ya, I can't wait for the weather to stabilize and warm up.  This hot and cold isn't helping anyone.  So while I hope for Spring (well Summer actually) I figured I'd share the new Spring collection from China Glaze.  This gorgeous set called House Of Colour, is full of shimmers and glitters and cremes. The colors are beautiful and versatile.  I'm pretty sure House Of Colour is available online and in beauty supply stores now.  So jot down your favorites and head out to do some shopping!

Let's start here because it seems like a good place to start!  This is Come Rain Or Shine, a denim blue full of purple shimmer!  Definitely one of my favorites in the collection.  The shimmer adds depth and really pops against the blue base.  Formula and application were both aces.  I used 2 coats forkful coverage and a layer of topcoat.

Don't Be Shallow is a pastel blue crelly.  Perfect shade of blue for Spring!  Reminds me of those Robin's Egg candies that you get at Easter.  Formula and application were both great.  The crelly finish built up to a nice opacity in 3 coats.  I finished with a lea of topcoat.

Moonlight in the Night is one of the glitter toppers in the collection.  It's a mix of blue and purple and iridescent color shifting glitter.  Very pretty, but hard to capture all the colors my eye could see in my pictures.  I loved that 1 coat provided plenty of glitter!  I have Moonlight in the Night over Don't Be Shallow.  I finished with a layer of topcoat.

I also put Moonlight in the Night over Sorry I'm Latte just to see it another way.

In The Near Fuchsia is a gorgeous fuchsia crelly.  What can I say about this color other than it's perfect for Spring (and Summer).  This will definitely be a go-to color when I want to feel pretty.  Formula and application were also perfect.  I used 2 coats and finished with topcoat.

The other glitter topper in the collection (which is also my favorite of the 2) is Glitter Me This...  It's a gorgeous blend of white, gold and light pink glitters.  China Glaze nailed this mix of colors.  It's girly and playful but also ritzy and perfect for a party night out.  The glitter payoff was fantastic. I have Glitter Me This... over In The Near Fuchsia. I used 1 coat and finished with topcoat.

I also previously (hence the slightly longer nails) tried Glitter Me This... over Let's Chalk About It.  Love!  You can really see the light pink glitter in this combo.

Shut The Front Door is a shimmery plum shade.  Lovely color, good finish.  It was ever so slightly streaky but not horribly so.  Just wanted to mention it.  Other than that I found the formula to be great.  I used 2 coats for full coverage and then a layer of topcoat.

Here's another great shade that will transition nicely into Summer!  Pink Or Swim is a nice, light pastel salmon creme.  I'll admit that light pastel cremes worry me because they tend to be chalky but that was not the case with this beauty.  Formula and application were both great.  I used 2 coats for full coverage and topcoat.

This is Chrome is Where the Heart Is.  This is my least favorite of the collection.  While I like the metallic rose color, I don't like the metallic finish because it is so streaky.  I suppose you could sponge on the last layer to eliminate the streaks but I wanted you to see what you get if you purchase this one.  I used 1 coat and topcoat.

Sorry I'm Latte is one of those perfect mannequin hands color.  It's kind of tan, kind of nude, great for those that can't wear vibrant colors to work.  Sometimes it's nice to just have a clean look and you'll totally achieve that with this shade.  I am medium-olive skin tone by the way, so I'm not sure how this would look on a lighter toned guy or gal.  But even if it's not your nude shade it would also make a great base for art!  I used 2 coats and finished with topcoat.

Let's Chalk About It is the softest lilac creme I have ever worn.  It's so light it's nearly pure white, but it's not.  And on my skin tone it actually looks more to have the slightest tinge of pink.  This one was a bit chalky on the first coat so I was worried, but to my pleasant surprise it evened out in 2 coats.  I used topcoat to finish it off.

Girls Just Wanna Have Sun is a pastel hello creme.  Another I was worried about and this turned out to be the most chalky of them all.  It was also a bit streaky and wanted to layer on itself unevenly causing some lumpy looking areas.  After 3 coats I was able to get it evened out.  So I wasn't happy with the finish but I do like the color!  Topcoat to finish.

Last but not least is About Layin' Out, a fabulous coral crelly.  This is another of my favorites in the collection.  How could it not be?!  I love everything about tit, color, formula, finish, application.  I used 2 coats to reach full opacity and a layer of topcoat to finish.
