Down The Bayou Lacquer, Glitters from May The Polish Be Ever In Your Color collection

Good morning!  I've been working my fingers to the bones to get this post ready for you all!  Down the Bayou Lacquer is a relatively new brand (just under a year old), Jodi has out out a few prior collections but this is the one she's been most excited to share with her followers!  Once I received the package with my samples I completely understood why. Inspired by her favorite collection of books The Hunger Games, Jodi created a great collection full of glitters, shimmer, holo and even a jelly!  Are you ready to jump in and see the glitter toppers from the May The Polish Be Ever In Your Color collection?

Let's start with the first glitter that can be worn on it's own!  Inspired by the deadly berries that nearly end the hero's lives, this is Nightlock Berries.  It's described as a "blurple jelly with fuchsia flakies, hexs and pink dots."  I always enjoy a darker jelly finish that has glitters suspended between layers.  Formula and application were both good.  I did get two flakies that stuck up off my nail so I just used tweezers to pick them off.  I noticed there were sequin glitters in here but none ended up on my nail - which I attribute to the mini bottle.  Other than that, I had zero issues with this polish.  I built up full coverage in 3-4 coats alone and Nightlock Berries was squishy and shiny on it's own without topcoat.

Inspired by hallucinogenic venom that comes from the Tracker Jacker sting, Tracker Jacker Venom is a silver holo glitter bomb.  I love that it's full of silver "holo dots and holo shimmer."  The simplicity of the single color and sparing amount of glitter makes it subtle and perfect to wear for any occasion.  Tracker Jacker Venom would look great over any base color but I used 2 coats over 1 coat of Illamasqua Caress.  The formula and application were both great, the glitter came out easily and spread well on my nails.  I finished with 1 layer of topcoat.

Stay Alive is one of my favorites from this collection.  Stay Alive is inspired by a mentors advice to the contestants before beginning the actual games.  I just can't say no to rainbow holo circle glitters. Stay Alive is a mix of orange, teal, pink, red, purple, and silver "holo dots, pink and teal micro hexs."  The amount of glitter in this polish is more my style - I like my glitter bombs to be blingy and fun!  I used 1 layer of Illamasqua Jan as a base and 2 coats of Stay Alive.  Plenty of glitter came out and it spread well on my nails  Formula and application were both great.  I finished with 1 layer of topcoat.

Up next is Madge's Pin, a blend of "gold dots, flakes and micro hexs."  Madge's Pin is inspired by the (now famous symbol for the books and the heroine) Mockingjay pin the heroine received from her litter friend before leaving for the Capitol and the games.  The formula and application were both great.  The small hexs did a fantastic job covering up empty space on the nail and dots add interest.  I used 2 coats of Madge's Pin over 2 layers of Illamasqua Purity.

Inspired by the heroine and her adventures in the woods around her home, Catnip is a "mix of micro hexs, dots, flakies and hex glitters."  I love the blend of green, gold and orange glitters in this polish.  It is very reminiscent of nature, specifically the woods.  The formula and application were both great.  I was pleased with the amount of glitter that came out with each brush dip and the glitters spread well on my nails.  I used 2 coats of Catnip over 2 coats of Sheswai Rootsy.

Bloodbath at the Cornucopia (which I will refer to as BatC) was another favorite for me.  Not only because of the memories of reading it brought up or me but because it's a gorgeous red glitter bomb (and you know I am all for anything red).  BatC is described as "a jam packed glitter, red hex and micros, red dots, and red flakies."  I used 2 layers of BatC over 2 coats of Milani Almond Bliss.  Formula and application were both fabulous...great glitter pay off and very easy to apply.  I believe I forgot to topcoat this one.

Last but not least we have come to Betting on You.  Inspired by everyone's favorite stylist, who has nothing but the utmost belief that the underdog/heroine will prevail in the games.  Betting on You was another favorite of mine.  It's a blend of black glitters - squares, hexs and dots in different sizes.  Simple but perfect.  You can wear this many ways and over a rainbow of colors.  I chose to go neutral and put 2 layer of Betting on You over 3 coats of Sephora OPI Metro Chic.  Betting on You had a great formula and I was happy with the glitter pay off.  Application was a breeze and the glitters spread well on my nails.  I finished with 1 layer of topcoat.
